The Degree of MSc (Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences) [Graduate]


The degree specialization is in Pharmaceutical Sciences or Pharmacy Practice

Program Requirements


Students are required to complete a minimum of ★6 in coursework and a thesis.

Coursework


  • Two ★3 graduate level courses selected in consultation with the supervisor
  • Coursework will depend on the area of specialization, the undergraduate background of the student, and the recommendation of the supervisor or supervisory committee.
  • All students are expected to participate in Faculty activities (e.g., faculty seminars, Faculty Research Day, final oral presentations) during their program
  • Students must register once for credit in PHARM 697  
  • Additional coursework may be required

Thesis


  • Registration in 900-level THES. Students must complete and successfully defend a thesis. Students are required to give a final oral presentation of their research, ideally within two weeks of the thesis defense.

Residence Requirement


The minimum period of residence is two four-month terms of full-time attendance at the University of Alberta.

Length of Program


The time required to complete the MSc will vary with the individual candidate; however, a minimum of two years is normally required.

The maximum time to complete the thesis-based MSc program as set by the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research is four years.
