Bachelor of Science Mathematical Physics Subject Area

The subject area requirements listed on this page are part of the Bachelor of Science (Major and Honors)  program offered by the Faculty of Science. Students must ensure they are familiar with and follow all program requirements in addition to the subject area requirements outlined below.

Courses for Subject Area GPA


Mathematical Physics subject area GPA will be calculated including all courses at the 200-level or above with course designators PHYS, MATH, ASTRO, GEOPH, BIOPH, and MA PH.

Courses for Subject Area Requirements


Note: Students registered in the Bachelor of Science (Major and Honors) program also need to satisfy Common Course Requirements , Major/Honors/Minor Requirements , and Science and Senior Course Level Requirements .

Honors in Mathematical Physics Requirements


Notes:


  1. Students who successfully complete MATH 117  must replace MATH 216  with 3 units selected from MATH at the 200-level or higher.
  2. Students who take 3 units in a 400-level ASTRO course for this program requirement will also be satisfying the Breadth from Within the Faculty of Science requirement.
  3. MA PH 364  may be offered every second year and must be taken in either Year 3 or Year 4.

Major in Mathematical Physics Requirements


6 units from:


Any 300- and 400-level course with the following course designators:

  • ASTRO (See Note 1)
  • GEOPH (See Note 1)
  • MA PH
  • PHYS

Notes:


  1. Students who take 3 units in a 300- or 400-level ASTRO or GEOPH course for this program requirement will also be satisfying the Breadth from Within the Faculty of Science requirement.
  2. MA PH 364  may be offered every second year and must be taken in either Year 3 or Year 4.
