General Information
The Bachelor of Biomedicine Dual Degree Program is a collaboratively designed international medical program developed to educate physicians who have an international perspective on health care, leadership and medicine. All students in the program will be from China as part of the Alberta Institute (AI) collaboration between the University of Alberta and Wenzhou Medical University (WMU). The curriculum is delivered in a way that presents material in a progression from basic science to clinical application, building on foundational knowledge in a sequential way, which will nurture and support student inquiry as well as scholarly and creative activity. This program emphasizes lifelong learning, critical thinking, problem-solving skills, teamwork, and collaboration. The program integrates the medical school’s curriculum at WMU and the curricular content of academic years 1 and 2 (the pre-clerkship courses) of the University of Alberta Doctor of Medicine (MD) Program. Students who complete the required credits and meet the academic standards of both universities will be granted degrees from each institution. Students will be eligible for a Bachelor of Biomedicine from the University of Alberta after they meet the academic standards and complete the program’s first four years.
