The Degree of MSc with Specialization in Molecular Pathology (Laboratory Medicine and Pathology) [Graduate]


Program Requirements


This is a thesis-based program.

Students are required to complete a minimum of ★9 in graded coursework and a thesis.

Required Coursework


  • LABMP 530  – this course is normally taken in the first year
  • LABMP 581  
  • One ★3 graduate-level graded courses in Laboratory Medicine and Pathology (LABMP) or approved courses in other departments
  • Course requirements are approved by the Supervisor and Supervisory Committee based on the background of the student and the area of research specialization.
  • Additional coursework may be required

Thesis


  • Registration in 900-level THES

Seminar Requirement


Students must attend specified seminars (LMP Rounds) and make one or more oral presentations as specified by the Department.

Ethics Requirement


Thesis-based students in the Department of Laboratory Medicine & Pathology fulfill the FGSR Academic Integrity and Ethics Training Requirement  through LABMP 530 and by completing the Ethics and Scientific Integrity (ESI) Day offered by the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry.

Professional Development Requirement


Students in the Department of Laboratory Medicine & Pathology must satisfy the FGSR Professional Development Requirement .

Length of Program


The minimum program length is one year. A realistic program length is 2.5 years.

The maximum time to complete the thesis-based MSc program as set by the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research is four years.
