MUSIC 444 - West African Music Ensemble

★ 3 (fi 6) (either term, 0-4L-0) Polyphonic and polyrhythmic music of West Africa, through ensemble performance of the percussion and vocal music of the Ewe people of Ghana, and related readings, films and discussions. A set of Ewe percussion instruments will be available. The ability to read music is not required. Course may be repeated where topics vary. Prerequisite: MUSIC 144 or consent of the Department based on assessment in the first class.
