Undergraduate Embedded Certificate in Planetary Health

The physical and social environments in which we live significantly impact our health. Global processes such as climate change, biodiversity loss and ecosystem integrity interface with regional factors like access to clean water, sanitation and hygiene, access to safe and secure food and exposure to air pollution to affect population health. Intertwined with these environmental influences are the determinants of health, which can shape how specific populations respond to changes in their natural and built environments.

This Undergraduate Embedded Certificate in Planetary Health aims to introduce students from across the University of Alberta to the foundations of public health and how the environment impacts the health of populations in Canada and globally.
