Master of Science in Medical Sciences - Dental Hygiene

The Department of Dentistry offers the degree of MSc in Medical Sciences - Dental Hygiene as a research-based program. This is not a clinical training program.

Program Core Competencies

The following are the program-specific requirements to satisfy the FoMD’s Program Core Competencies (See Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry Program Core Competencies ).

Students in the MSc Dental Hygiene program may be required to complete additional courses to strengthen their background knowledge and/or critical thinking based on their area of research. Courses will be chosen in consultation with their supervisor. Students can also contact the Graduate Program Administrator for course options.

1. Professional Development and Ethics

2. Communication

Students in the MSc Dental Hygiene program are required to take the following courses to satisfy the communication core competency:

3. Critical Reading/Thinking

Students in the MSc Dental Hygiene program are required to take the following courses to satisfy the critical reading/thinking core competency:

4. Background Knowledge

Students in the MSc Dental Hygiene program are required to take the following courses to satisfy the critical background knowledge core competency:

Thesis

Registration in 900-level THES. Students are required to prepare and defend a thesis on a topic approved by their supervisor and supervisory committee.
