Bachelor of Education in Elementary Education - After Degree

General Information

Applicants having a first undergraduate degree may apply to the BEd After Degree in either the Elementary or Secondary Route.

Program Requirements:

The Elementary After Degree is based on 54 - 60 units of Education Course Requirements and additional Program Completion Requirements. Requirements completed prior to admission may reduce the length of the program.

Introductory Education Courses (9 units)

Note: Introductory Education Courses should be taken prior to the Introductory Professional Term.

3 units EDEL (400-Level) Option

Notes

Options can be used to further develop generalist teaching interests or create an area of specialization.
The Education Elective and EDEL 400- Level options may have prerequisites.

Senior Education Courses (30 units)

Notes

EDEL 305 and EDEL 316 must be taken as pre/co-requisites to EDFX 325 .
The Introductory Professional Term is normally offered in Winter Term only and consists of EDFX 325 , 6 units in EDEL courses, and EDPY 303 .
The Advanced Professional Term is normally offered in Fall Term only and consists of EDFX 425 , 3 units in EDEL, and EDPY 301 .
Not all courses are offered each term or in a 13-week or condensed format.
Students should be aware of course prerequisites and refer to their individual program sheets for the proper sequencing of courses.

Program Completion Requirements

Students who have not met the following requirements in their previous degree will need to fulfil them prior to obtaining their BEd degree:

3 units chosen from English Literature
3 units chosen from English OR WRS
3 units in Mathematics
