Doctor of Philosophy in Medical Sciences (Paediatrics)


Students in the Maternal and Child Health (MatCH) scholarship program are also admitted to the Graduate Embedded Certificate in Maternal and Child Health Research. See Medical Sciences  for the program requirements and the MatCH website for more information on the program.

Program Core Competencies


The following are the program-specific requirements to satisfy the FoMD’s Program Core Competencies (See Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry Program Core Competencies ):

Students are required to attend Pediatric seminars and participate in Pediatric Research Day on an annual basis. Each division has their own seminars and journal clubs that are available to the students. Seminar attendance and participation in Pediatric Research Day is reported annually to the Graduate Program Administrator.

Students are required to complete one 3 unit graduate course. Students may be required to take additional courses to enhance competency in their specific topic of research. Graduate courses in Paediatrics can be found in Course Listings  under the subject heading PAEDS. Students wishing to take a course not listed must receive approval prior to registration by emailing the Director of Graduate Studies for the program (and copying their supervisor and the Graduate Program Administrator).

Thesis


Registration in 900-level THES. Students are required to prepare and defend a thesis on a topic approved by their supervisor and supervisory committee.
