Minor in Media Studies [Arts]

General Information

This minor is commonly taken as part of the Bachelor of Arts program, which has additional regulations and requirements, including specific regulations for crosslisted courses.

Students from other programs should refer to the regulations and requirements on their respective program page.

Questions regarding Media Studies should be directed to the Media Studies Area Coordinator, Media and Technology Studies.

Requirements for the Minor

A Minor in Media Studies requires a minimum of 18 units to a maximum of 42 units at the senior level, where a minimum of 15 units must be in Media Studies courses or Media Studies elective courses.

The Faculty of Arts requires students to fulfill 3 units of Indigenous content for this Minor.

Demonstrated Indigenous Content

Proof of demonstrated Indigenous content provided from one of the following:

Aboriginal Studies 30 (or equivalent) taken at the high school level
Indigenous language at the 30-level (or equivalent) taken at the high school level
Proof of completion of the Indigenous Canada MOOC
3 units of course work with Indigenous content completed elsewhere in the degree program (see Note 1)
3 units chosen from one of the following courses:

NS 280 is a variable topics course and must be approved by the Media Studies Area Coordinator to fulfill the Indigenous Content requirement.
