General Arts Program Requirements [Augustana]

The Interdisciplinary Studies - General Arts Major is offered by the Augustana Faculty and is open only to students completing the Bachelor of Arts / Bachelor of Education combined degree.

General Requirements (9 units)
9 units in Language or Literature from
General Arts Specializations (42 units)
Students in the General Arts major will complete 42 units in a subject specialization in Art, English Language Arts, Physical Education, or Social Studies. 6 units in Composition and Language from
3 units in Canadian Literature from
6 units of Literature Prior to 1900 from
27 units from any Senior AUENG Course and may also include
12 units chosen from
- The four activity dimensions (a,b,c,d) listed below. Select 3 units from each of the dimensions a to d.
a. Alternative Environments
12 units chosen from the following Physical Education electives
3 units in Canadian History from
3 units in Canadian Studies from
3 units in Critical Issues from
3 units in Economics from
3 units in Political Science from
3 units in Sociology from
3 units in World History Content from
21 units chosen from any course listed in the above categories, or other Social Science courses

- A single course cannot be used to satisfy more than one degree program requirement.
- Students may not have access to all courses included in this list as course restrictions exist for some of these courses (i.e., course prerequisites, student program eligibility). Students should refer to Bear Tracks to check course restrictions and consult with an Academic Advisor.
Additional Information for Students
Many of the Augustana Faculty’s senior courses are offered only in alternate years, and some are offered only if there is sufficient student demand. |
