Graduate Certificate in Educational Studies (Education)


The Graduate Certificate in Educational Studies offered by the Faculty of Education is designed around a cohort model and is for professionals seeking specialization in various disciplinary focus areas called streams. Each  stream has distinctive courses.

The streams include:

  • Contemporary Literacy Education K-9
  • Early Childhood Education 
  • Elementary Music Teaching and Learning
  • Indigenous Education 
  • Indigenous Language Sustainability 
  • Mathematics Education 
  • Mentoring and Leadership 
  • Prison Education 
  • School Librarianship 
  • Science Education 
  • Structured Literacy and Reading Science
  • Teaching English Language Learners 
  • Teaching Students with Complex Communication Needs 
  • Teaching Students with Significant Disabilities
  • Technology Education 
  • Trauma-Sensitive Practice

Program Requirements


Students are required to complete four 3-unit courses for a total of 12 units in a specific stream.

Length of Program


All components of the certificate must be completed within 4 years of enrollment from first registration for the certificate.
