  3. Core courses cannot be used towards a minor.
  4. Selected Topics Courses (488) and Individual Research Projects (495/496/497) can only be used towards a Minor with Department Approval.

Minors outside Business

Students are strongly urged to consider coursework outside the Faculty of Business as complementary to their Business studies. A considerable advantage may be obtained by the disciplined study of advanced material in other Faculties. Students should be aware that some majors require coursework outside the Faculty of Business and all programs strongly recommend students investigate courses available in other Faculties for complementary courses.

  1. Students in all majors may complete minors in other Faculties by completing the requirements of that minor as listed in the relevant section of the Calendar, provided they have the available units of course weight within their program requirements.
  2. BCom foundational courses are permitted to overlap with minors outside of Business.
  3. Certain Minors outside Business have overlap with required Business courses. In the cases of the following Minors, students are instructed to follow the additional requirements below:

    Minor in Economics
In addition to the requirements of the Minor outlined by the Faculty of Arts, students must complete an additional 3 units of 200-level Economics to replace BUEC 211  or ECON 281  in the Economics Minor.

    Minor in Statistics
In addition to the requirements of the Minor outlined by the Faculty of Science, students must complete an additional 3 units of 300-level Statistics to replace STAT 252  or BUAN 212  in the Statistics Minor.
Please note that senior STAT courses normally have prerequisites.

  4. Students in the Business Technology Management Major may pursue a Minor in Computing Science by completing a modified set of requirements:

Students wishing to take this route should consider very early on how to structure their program so as to allow for the proper sequencing of courses and the obtaining of all necessary prerequisites. For example, CMPUT 201  is necessary for the above course sequence.

Students may not take courses extra to their degree for the sole purpose of satisfying requirements for a minor area of concentration.
