General Information
The subject area requirements listed on this page are part of the Bachelor of Science (Major and Honors) program offered by the Faculty of Science. Students must ensure they are familiar with and follow all program requirements in addition to the subject area requirements outlined below. Mathematics subject area GPA will be calculated including all courses at the 200-level or above with course designator(s) MATH and MA PH. Honors in Mathematics Requirements
Notes:
- CMPUT 274 and CMPUT 275 can serve as substitutes for CMPUT 174 and CMPUT 175 , respectively.
- Students who successfully complete MATH 117 must replace MATH 216 with 3 units selected from MATH at the 200-level or higher.
- Students who successfully complete MATH 227 must replace MATH 226 with 3 units selected from any 200-, 300-, and 400-level MATH course.
- With consent of the Department, students may substitute MATH 100 for MATH 117 , MATH 134 , MATH 144 or MATH 154 ; MATH 101 for MATH 118 , MATH 136 , MATH 146 or MATH 156 ; MATH 102 for MATH 125 or MATH 127 .
- With consent of the Department, students may substitute MATH 201 for MATH 336 . In such cases, an additional 3 units of MATH or MA PH at the 300-level or higher is required for the degree.
- Several of the required courses, including MATH 411 , MATH 447 , MATH 448 , may only be offered in alternate years.
- ECON 299 , ECON 386 or ECON 387 may not be used for credit in any Honors degree offered by the Department of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences.

Notes:
- CMPUT 274 and CMPUT 275 can serve as substitutes for CMPUT 174 and CMPUT 175 , respectively.

- With consent of the Department, students may substitute MATH 209 for MATH 214 or MATH 217 . In such cases, the requirement of MATH 315 must be replaced with 3 units selected from MATH or MA PH at the 300-level or higher.
- With consent of the Department, students may substitute MATH 201 for MATH 336 . In such cases, an additional 3 units of MATH or MA PH at the 300-level or higher is required for the degree.
- Several of the 400-level options, including MATH 411 and MATH 448 , may only be offered in alternate years.
