General Information
The subject area requirements listed on this page are part of the Bachelor of Science (Major and Honors) program offered by the Faculty of Science. Students must ensure they are familiar with and follow all program requirements in addition to the subject area requirements outlined below.

Subject Area Courses
Earth Sciences subject area courses include all courses at the 200-level or higher that satisfy specific requirements or options in the respective Honors or Major requirements, as listed below, and all courses at the 200-level or above with course designators EAS, HGEO, PALEO, and PLAN.
There are minimum subject area GPA requirements for graduation (see Academic Standing and Graduation ).
Honors in Earth Sciences Requirements
3 units from:
Any 200-, 300-, and 400-level course with the following course designators:
15 units from:
- any 300- and 400-level EAS course
Notes:
- To fulfill the knowledge requirements for registration as a professional geoscientist (P. Geo.) through APEGA (Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta), meet with an EAS program advisor to discuss appropriate course selections. Current syllabus and registration information is available from the Department of Earth & Atmospheric Sciences or APEGA. Full information is available at www.apega.ca.
Major in Earth Sciences Requirements
3 units from:
Any 200-, 300-, and 400-level course with the following course designators:
12 units from:
- any 300- and 400-level EAS course
