Master of Agriculture (Renewable Resources)


Program Requirements


The Master of Agriculture program is a course-based program for students wishing to obtain a post-graduate education in agriculture.

Students are required to complete a minimum of 30 units in coursework, including a project equivalent to 6 to 12 units.

Coursework


  • 18 to 24 units in graduate-level coursework
  • Courses must be chosen in consultation with the supervisor and the Associate Chair (Graduate Programs) relevant to the topic of the project and within the realm of agriculture.

Research Project


  • REN R 906  (a project equivalent to 6 units) OR
  • (a project equivalent to 12 units)

Ethics Requirement


Students must meet the FGSR Ethics and Academic Citizenship Training Requirement  through the completion of INT D 710  (for both master’s and doctoral students) by the end of the first term of registration in their degree program within the first 6 months of their program.

Professional Development Requirement


Students must complete the IDP portion of their FGSR Professional Development Requirement  within the first 6 months for students starting in the fall term, and within the first 12 months for students starting in the winter term. Students in course-based programs may audit the relevant REN R 603 lecture for guidance for developing the IDP.

Length of Program


The program is designed to be completed in 16 to 20 months. However, with a heavier than normal course load, the program can be completed in 10 months, or it may be completed on a part-time basis over a maximum period of 6 years.

The maximum time to complete the course-based MSc program as set by the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research is six years.
